Ray Bruwelheide has allowed us to see Pokemon through the lens of a noir film with his unique comic, Viridian City. Bringing the brutality of a crime drama to life using the aggressive nature of the Pokemon world is something miraculous to see. We sit down for an interview with Ray about his comic, his inspirations, and of course, his favorite Pokemon.
When I visited my mom back in New York, I was excited to have her make me french toast. The unique, delicious flavor that I haven’t found in Seattle, or any city between the coasts. Waking up in my old bedroom with the Fallout: New Vegas standee still the only decoration in the room besides a lamp and a chair, and the smell of that french toast hanging in the air. I went downstairs to find that she was making french toast for me, only she was using a new kind of bread, and I saw a brand of syrup that I was unfamiliar with. That moment of fear that something I had come to love had been changed into something that would probably dissatisfy me and let me down.
